The educational system in Puerto Rico has been under a lot of scrutiny in the last decade. Although many issues need to be addressed to correct the present deficiencies, this panel will focus on identifying practical and immediate strategies that will lead to the development of the local economy. One goal of the panel is to determine the most effective ways by which the system can train individuals who will be successful in generating innovative and globally-applicable concepts. This session will bring together experts from Puerto Rico and the Harvard Community to discuss the current state of the island's educational system, models of educational reform that have proven successful in similar contents and proposals for reforming public education.
